Till a few years, ethicwas an unknown topic in Turkey. But today, ethic is coming to be a problem in all overthe world, media, medicine, busuniess world, politics and some else.Tecnology and economy are determining all of human life. Technology alreadyhas a power to become easy our lifes and become new problems with mortal effects.And economy is determining possibilities of human life, human relations and someassociations too by the same way. Today economy become a power which be overhuman life and advantages.Media has also been affected from the devastating effects of the current marketconditions. Economy and tecnology are the reasons of the many etical problems inmedia as they are in many other sectors. The unethical attidues shown in media are greatthreats fort he future of the society when we take into consideration the guiding effect ofthe media on the societies nowadays.Due to power of the media to determine the social tendencies, ethics is verydiscussable in this sector. That media takes place in such a critical point for socities anddemocracy increases the importance of ethics in media.This study includes the approaches of the journalists to the media ethicviolations within these discussions. Media ethic and ethic problems experienced inmedia ethic have been identified in the theoretical part of the study after the concept ofethic is analysed. In the practical part of the study, a public survey has been conductedin order to determine the approaches to the media ethic of the journalists who are themembers of Turkish Journalists? Association, Contemporary Journalists? Associationand Economy Reporters? Association. The demographic features, socio-economicfeatures of the member journalists of the Associations and their approaches to the ethicviolations in media have been indicated using the survey results. When we haveexamined the findings of the study, we have seen that the journalists see ethic as amandatory condition for the media, however they do not behave in a favourable way tothe ethic principles in the process of news formation because of themselves or the otherreasons. That a few people hold all the media institutions especially together withmonopoly, media bosses are the ones who are holding owners investing also in otherareas and the development of the news based on interests are concluded as the basicreasons of the ethic problems in media.
