Place and importance of symbols in Turkish mythology in education of graphic art

In this study, the opinions of lecturers and students related to the instruction of Turkish mythology in the course of Graphical Art / Graphical Art History within the field of Applied Arts of Faculties of Fine Arts and Educational Sciences Institute / Graphical Education of Art and Design Faculty have been evaluated.The study group of the research has been composed of totally 400 students and 37 lecturers from the Applied Arts Education of Faculty of Fine Arts and Institute of Educational Sciences. The qualitative data pertaining to thge study have been obtained from the course programs of tghe faculties in the web pages. The quantitative data have been acquired through survey. In analysis of the quantitative data, the tests of frequency, percentage, t-test, Variance analysis and Tukey tests have been utilized. The significance level in the study has been considered to be (.05), (.01) and (.001).According to the outcomes of survey;1. It has been seen that Turkish mythology was not taught as topic to the course in the fields of Graphics Department of Faculty of Fine Arts and Graphical Department of Applied Arts Education Discipline of Educational Sciences Institute.2. It has been identified that the students had insufficient information about Turkish mythology and symbols and did not use them in their studies.3. As for the lec turers, they know Turkish mythology to some extent and used them as the case might be.
