Women in proverbs of Turkish, Mongolian and Korean

The Turkish, Mongolian and Korean people bring about social and cultural associations whereby their geographic proximate, from ancient times until today. The main element of the cultural association is linguistic kinship relationships. Altaic Language Theory asserts that Mongolian and Turkish have a kinship relationship with Korean and Manchurian-Tungus. Within this kinship relationship, as one of the most powerful outputs of oral literature, proverbs present us the most natural way to be informed about communities' lives. Proverbs contain some subjects that differ from family relations to group communications, from kinship dialogues to economic dynamics. Additionally, they help us to analyze the period's structure with their behavior and attitude towards any members of the community. Therefore, in this study, women's status in the Turkish, Mongolian and Korean communities is examined through proverbs. Approximately 20.000 proverbs are studied, and the proverbs that are about women are selected and classified by their topics. The study's purpose is whether status of women is identical within dynamics of this three communities that have lived in same geographies and, are in same language family. Thus, it will be figured out that whether linguistic association provides a resemblance in social structure.
