Özet (EN)

This study is written to argue the reflections of a new phase; postmodern situation, emerged after the second half of the twentieth century as a result of large scale transformations in social, economic and cultural fragments. First, different approaches of philosophers, sociologists, artists and critics about postmodern situation about which there is still an ongoing debate, emerged as a reaction against modernity and defined as postmodernity in the politic and economic arenas and as postmodernism in cultural and artistic realm, had been analyzed. Then, the reactions against the modern psyche which might encompass the postmodern situation to emerge in the specific conditions of Turkey and the projects which has been created through that psyche had been discussed. Finally, by tracking the properties of postmodern art, those plays which are assumed to exhibit a postmodern tendency in Turkish playwriting course had been read by a postmodernist method. The fundamental aim of this thesis is to make an emphasis on the necessity and even inevitability of postmodernist reading with the emergence of inefficiencies of modernist reasoning genres against recently emerged phenomena in life and to give ideas through sample readings.
