Abstract (EN)

The history of the relationship between art and society dates back to the emergence of sociology as a science. The connection of art with the individual and the society can be independent from each other as well as a complementary character. The subjective side of art has caused the discipline of sociology to approach it cautiously. With the emergence of different theories in the 20th century, art has become one of the fields of study of sociology in all its aspects. Sociology has succeeded in revealing its sociality by rejecting the understanding that art is in the exclusivity of the individual by addressing every stage of the journey of the phenomenon of art from the artist to the recipient. With regard to the sociology of art in the West different from the original Works created by imposing paradigms, this field in Turkey have been exposed to relatively irrelevance. However, since the beginning of sociology in Turkey, it has been found to work on the art of sociologists. These works belonging to major sociologist of sociology community in Turkey was not see much interest studies on other social issues. Each one of the leading sociologists of his time, Ziya Gökalp, Ahmed Şuayb, İsmayıl Hakkı Baltacıoğlu, Ziyaeddin Fahri Fındıkoğlu, Nurettin Şazi Kösemihal, Hilmi Ziya Ülken, Cahit Tanyol, Ömer Naci Soykan, Ertan Eğribel, Ali Akay, Besim Dellaloğlu ve Ulus Baker have written works on art as well as many different art branches within the framework of sociological perspective. Interest in sociology of art is increasing in Turkey. The sociology of art, which is becoming more and more important in sociology and is becoming more diverse, promises new perspectives and increases its value in cooperation with other disciplines. In this thesis, these sociologists and their works are examined and their views on Western approaches in the context of sociology of art are presented. As a result, the question of whether an indigenous theory of art sociology has been established, regardless of Western understanding, has been answered.
