0203 numbered "Tevârih-i Tâlib" collection in the Library of Turkish historical society (Text-review)

Chronogram based on ebced account is accepted as art in Divan poetry. Although the tradition of chronogram emerged in Persian literature, its best examples have been given in Turkish literature. The first examples of the art of chronogram in Turkish literature were given in the 13th century, and it lived its golden age in the 18th century. In this golden age or after, there were dozens of historians whose names are unknown although they used the art of chronogram. Talib who lived in the 19th century is one of these historians. Tâlib was born in Istanbul in 1203/1788, and he worked as the clerk of Divan-ı Humayun for a long time. 139 historical poems are included in this poetry collection. Although exact date and muʿcem date are used more, other types of dates are also included. In historical poems, many issues such as birth, death, wedding, appointment, construction of architectural structures are dealt with. What makes this collection valuable is that the subject of death is discussed in all poems. Talib composed chronograms based on ebced account about the date of death of the people he cared about and loved. He not only composed chronograms but also gave information about the lives of these people. Therefore, he used the art of chronogram successfully, and in a literate way. In this article, it is aimed to show that historical collections reach the present day by being transcribed, Talib was a successful historian who continued the tradition of Divan poetry, and the historical poems were examined in terms of content and form.
