Research on the cultivation role of Turkish televisions on university students in Azerbaijan

Abstract (EN)

This study aim storeveal the cultivation role of Turkish televisions on university students in Azerbaijan. Therefore the Cultural İndicators Project developed by George Gerbner was analyzed first in th estudy, and following Message System Analysis and Cultivation Analysis was carried out with the purpose of the study. After all, a Widespread Opinion Analysis was also carried out. The Message System Analysis was implemented to the programs of ATV, Kanal D, Star and Show TV channels, which are the most watched by Azerbaijani students, between 19.00 and 23.00 pm between dates 17-21 January, 2022.The analysis was revealed that element ssuch as crime, violence, death, security forces, maledominance, women isolated from business life, family, poverty and wealt hare very common in the television world. As a result of the Message System Analysis, the most repeated messages and representations on television were determined. Inaccordance with these findings, the survey question sused in the Cultivation Analysis were arranged. For the field research of the study, 5 universities in Azerbaijan were selected. These are Azerbaijan Medical University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan Laborand Social Relations Academy. 500 people were reached from these universities, including 300 women and 200 men. As a result of the cultivation analysis, it was revealed that television has the role of cultivation and mainstreming on Azerbaijani students.
