Abstract (EN)

The role of capitalist media on the rise of modern nation states has been scrutinized by many studies in social science literature. National newspapers specifically due to their news making structures, construct social imaginaries about the past and the future of societies by addressing to their readers? consciousness. These social imaginaries are not only constructed but also reminded through national newspapers by transforming them into modern and national meaning particles or particulars within the daily life of the societies. Likewise Türkiye, the modernization and the nationalism in developing countries have shaped themselves through the changes from external to internal. In this study, so as to analyze the modernist and nationalist social imaginary construction in the Turkish national newspapers with 100.000 or more circulation between 2005 and 2007, the news those cover the successes of the Turkish citizens living abroad are scrutinized in terms of fingering how the news are transmitted to the citizens living in Turkey.
