The effect of related and undrelated words on success and attitude during the Turkish lessons

The main aim of the Turkish course is to gain four basic language skills. These skills are listening /observing, speaking, reading and writing. Turkish courses are carried out in accordance with the four components of Turkish Curriculum: target, content, learning-teaching situations and measurement-evaluation. However, there are some difficulties in the measurement and evaluation stage. In the Turkish lesson, it was seen that the students' cognitive schemas can be ignored in the achievement tests prepared by the teacher in the measurement and evaluation applications. The aim of this study is to reveal the effects of the related and unrelated words connected to theme subjects and the role of gender variable on this effect. This study, which was carried out using descriptive analysis method among 111 students of 6th grade in a secondary school in Kepez , Antalya. The study was carried out on two groups assigned randomly. In the study the theme subject ''We and our values'' was processed and attitude scale and achievement test were applied by using repeated measurement method at 6 weeks intervals, at the beginning and at the end of the teaching period. The data were analyzed with SPSS program. As a result of the data analysis, it was observed that the success in both groups in which success tests involving unrelated and related words were applied in relation to the theme subjects, the success of the group in which the words related to the theme subjects increased, and there was no significant difference in their attitudes. .In addition, it was determined that female students had higher achievement than male students. The discussion of the evidences is included in the study.
