Abstract (EN)
In this research, the texts in the Elementary Turkish books are investigated by simplification. In Turkish course books, materials compatible with the appropriate level and aim should be used. The texts in the Turkish and World Literature may be not always appropriate for the target group. The existing literary work, in consideration of aims of the Turkish Education, can be converted into an appropriate level for the target group. In the research, texts have been evaluated with ?Text Evaluation Scale? according to the characteristics it should have; subject integrity between the simplified and the original text, conservation of the the main idea, conservation of the style of the author, elaborating the language structure and coherence in the text. In this content; texts in the 6th grade Turkish Course Book of The Ministry of National Education Publishing and 6th grade Turkish Course Book of Koza Publishing are investigated by simplification. In the first part of the study, problem situation, aim and importance of the research, hypothesis, restrictions, and definitions are given, in the second part, information is given about theorotical framework, in the third part, method is explained, in the fourth part, findings and comments are given, in the final part, suggestions and research results are given. In the research, originals of the texts, which are simplified and given in the course books, are not placed in the course books. In the texts, ?shortening, simplification, summarising, noting? works are performed imprecisely, without a scale and whether simplification has been performed is not indicated. If importance given to the permanence of a nation is considered as the conservation of their language; the language-culture-ideology relations shoulde be noticed, the texts should be investigated with great care with respect to Turkish Education and aim. It should be determined whether the intervened texts placed in the Turkish Course books are indispensable or not, when needed, text simplification method should be prefered at sufficient level. However, the text intervention should not be completely left to the Publisher and the Author performing the intervention and text intervention scales should be determined, and the studies to be performed should be done according to this scale. Keywords: Language, Culture, Turkish Education, Text, Text Simplification
