Abstract (EN)
Global economy, international relations develop concurrently with globalization, integration, and cooperation process. Language is an integral and a very important element of these processes. Information exchange has a great significance in all processes. A fundamental basis for bilateral relations is communication. The communication without a language is impossible. Language learning remains a time consuming process also nowadays. Considering that modern people highly value their time, they want to learn a foreign language within the shortest time possible. Same as in the rest of the world, learning and teaching foreign languages becomes more and more important in Latvia. During the last half century, bilateral relations between Latvia and Turkey have developed rapidly. Consequently, the demand for Turkish language professionals has grown. Unfortunately, the combination of these languages has not been subject to any research or compiling a dictionary or a study aid. Turkish language continues to be taught in Latvia using teaching aids published in other languages (Russian, English). Learning a foreign language using another foreign language is possible; however, in such case, the language learning process becomes more difficult, more mistakes occur during the learning process, and the expected result may as well not be achieved. The purpose of this thesis is explaining Turkish language grammar tenses using the ones in Latvian. It will be also researched if similar constructions of grammar tenses found in Turkish language exist also in Latvian. It will also be explained to which grammar tense, mood, or other category it belongs. In this thesis, the identical, similar, and distinct characteristics will be presented. The information developed during the research, will be a trustworthy source for developers of Turkish language study materials or study programs. It will also serve as an additional information source for those who want to study Turkish language. Thanks to this thesis, the Turkish language studying and teaching process will become easier; thus, also more pleasant and faster.
