Books of history of medicine in Turkish (1928-2018): A draft of bibliography and the problem of being popular

In the contemporary world, science is the main source of credible and respectable knowledge. Every scientific discipline has a terminology and language its own. This situation makes difficult to understand scientific writings for ordinary people. Popular science, as a kind of literature, is a solution for this problem; it makes possible the scientific accumulation to be open to the public. Popular history may be considered as a subtype of popular science however, it is also feasible to take it as an independent field. In this general context, popularization of history of medicine is like to open a gate to learn and understand the topics of this specific working area. To realize history of medicine offers an opportunity to people to discover medicine and also human being indirectly. At first in this study, catalog information of books regarding history of medicine published in Turkish from 1918 to 2018 have been compiled. After that, the problem of being a popular medical history book and medico-social background of the literature of history of medicine are discussed.
