Thematic vocabulary of eating and drinking culture in Turkish

Abstract (EN)
This study was aimed to determine the words that constitute the vocabulary related to eating and drinking in Turkish, whether the words related to eating and drinking in historical dialects exist in contemporary dialects, and if any, the changes they exhibit in terms of structure and meaning and to determine the different meanings of words in different dialects. In this context, 24 dictionaries and 16 works were scanned. All of the historical and contemporary dialects Turkish, Altay, Gagauz, Khakasia, Karachay-Balkar, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Kumyk-Balkar, Uzbek, Shor, Tuva, Turkmen, New Uygur, namely thirteen dialects and two remote dialects Chuvash and Saha (Yakut) were included in the study. Among the words identified in food and beverage culture, those in the same conceptual field were classified under the same titles in the study divided into seven sections. Historical dialects are listed chronologically and contemporary dialects alphabetically. After the classification process, under the headings, the place of words in Turkish food and beverage culture, the values they express, and information on their root were given through etymology dictionaries and evaluations from different sources. In the conclusion part of the study, the numerical comparison of the words belonging to the historical dialects and today's dialects was made and their percentage values were shown in tables. The research will contribute to the determination of the words related to eating and drinking in historical and contemporary Turkish dialects, and will contribute to the determination of the vocabulary in this field and will constitute a source for studies It will be a resource for researchers in determining the roots of the words used in Turkish, determining the phonetic and semantic changes they have undergone in the historical process, and determining the effects of cultural changes on vocabulary.
