Özet (EN)

100 students at C1 level who learned Turkish as a foreign language were asked to write an essay by choosing one of the 8 topics given to them. Forms named Coherence Level Evaluation Form, Thinking Development Techniques Evaluation Form, and Paragraph Consistency Evaluation Form were used to evaluate the compositions written by the students. This study was modeled as a mixed method, using and integrating the strengths of qualitative and quantitative methods. The data obtained were evaluated with the descriptive statistical analysis method in accordance with the scanning model. The document analysis method was also used in the study. Listening and reading skills based on understanding, which is called the receptive language, of those who learn Turkish as a foreign language; The problems they face in gaining speaking and writing skills based on narrative, which is called the expressive language, are mostly in writing skills, and especially the problems in paragraph writing skills stand out. The results obtained as a result of the study are presented under three sub-headings as the use of coherence tools at the paragraph level, ensuring consistency in the paragraph, and the use of thinking development techniques in the paragraph.
