Turkey-Afghanistan economic relation and result: Historical overview

Even though it did not have a common border since the Ottoman Empire, Afghanistan has been the Central Asian country that it defines as a brotherly, friendly country and whose relations are always sincere. Have a special significance for Turkey's presence in Afghanistan is Turkey's strong historical ties with Afghanistan in the context of strategic depth. Turkey's policy towards Afghanistan is a special kind of relationship harboring different unique features within its relations with other Central Asian countries. Although it is not possible to talk about a partnership in terms of cooperation during the Ottoman Empire period, it was taken as a role model by the leaders of Afghanistan and the relations developed in a friendly way. Relations were restored during Atatürk's period and Afghanistan was supported internationally. The fact that the two countries followed different policies during the cold war period caused a recession in relations. Turkey's special position after September 11 is important in terms of ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan. The main topic of this thesis economic relations between Turkey and Afghanistan, referring to the historical background is to examine and explain the historical process. As a thesis topic in the field of international relations in the choice of studies showing that the Afghanistan-Turkey relations peculiar relationship is a special type of relationship between the two countries or inadequate. Afghanistan, due to its location, is the gateway to Central Asia in geostrategic terms and the sensitive country where relations with Central Asian countries intersect. The study consists of four parts. In the first part, general issues related to the structure of Afghanistan, its geographical location and current situation are analyzed. In the second part, the social structure of Afghanistan is discussed. In the third chapter, economy and foreign trade are given place and evaluated. In the last section, Turkish-Afghan relations after the cold war are examined.
