Abstract (EN)

From past to present, energy sources which were one of the world's most important issues have become more pronounced after the oil crises in the 1970s. Understanding being finished of unlimited use of energy has begun rice having energy sources at global scale so far and it is one of the causes of fire burning in the Middle East at nowadays. Turkey as well as in the whole world, the life of coal and fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas produced at low amounts has been decreased. In 2013, reasons such as reaching of Turkey's energy dependence ratio to foreign countries to 73%, continuity of increase in CO2 emissions depending on the energy use, and experiencing an increase in energy prices have emerged alternative energy sources to the agenda. Use of alternative energy sources is very important in order to ensure security of energy supply, decrease energy cost at national and international level, and produce solution recommendations for environmental problems resulting from energy use. In the study, PESTLE Analysis was used to examine alternative energy sources. According to research findings, it can be said that environmental degradation caused by fossil fuels in Turkey can be reduced in the production of alternative sources, but technological and legal structure is not sufficient to allow greater use of these resources. Economic point of view, the use of alternative energy sources will result in reducing deficit of foreign trade, but covering the cost of all alternative sources to be used is difficult in the short term. As a result, having alternative resources at a level that Turkey can solve her energy problem requires assessment of these resources. That energy and its derivatives constitute nearly half of the foreign trade deficit of Turkey supports this requirement.
