Determination of races of root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.)(Nemata:Meloidogyniae) in Turkey

Özet (EN)

Root-knot nematodes are the most economically important pest species with an extremely wide host range and high damage potential around worldwide. More than 80 Meloidogyne species are described until nowadays. Meloidogyne arenaria, M. chitwoodi, M. hapla, M. incognita and M. javanica are the most common and the most important among Meloidogyne spp. in Turkey. In this study 42 Meloidogyne populations were collected from different region of Turkey. Races of Meloidogne species were investigated by using the differential host test. The results indicated that M. incognita race 1, race 2, race 5, race 6; M. arenaria race 2, race 3; M. javanica race 1, race 5 and M. chitwoodi race 1, race 2 were found in Turkey. M. incognita race 5, M. javanica race 5 and M. chitwoodi race 1 and race 2 were carried out as the first record of the new races of root-knot nematodes in Turkey
