Encountered problems and solution proposals on Circassian language education in Turkey

In this research, it is aimed to identify the problems encountered in Circassian Language teaching in Turkey and offer solutions to these problems. On the aim of determining the problems encountered in Circassian language teaching, a research was carried out within the framework of the student-teacher- course triangle, whichis the elements of education. In this study, 22 people whose first language is Turkish as native language and who later learned Circassian Language in different ways were interviewed. In the interviews, it was learned how they learned Circassian language, why they learned it, on which patterns of Circassian language they had faced with difficulties or they had not, on where they can use Circassian language, and what were their advises on improving the efficiancy of Circassian language teaching in Turkey. In this study, Letters,mails and messages are sent to 6 people who had worked as a teacher of Circassian language in civil society organizations or public education centres. As a result of these letters; the problems that they face while teaching Circassian language and their solution suggests they apply to these problems, what are the difficulties of teaching Circassian language in Turkey through the eyes of the teachers, and which method must be used for teaching Circassian language to students whose native language is Turkish. In the period of this study, he was an observer in 3 courses teaching Circassian. In this observation, physical equipment of Circassian courses, relationship and behavior of teachers and students in the courses, Education in Circassian courses were examined. Results of the research analysed with substance analyse method and interpreted using the content analysis method. As a result of the analysis of the data, it is understood that there are two important problems encountered in Circassian teaching in Turkey: • The first most important problem for students and teachers during teaching and learning Circassian; is reaching too limited auditory, visual, written materials, and these materials were prepared regardlessly, especially about the differences between these two languages and It was concluded that they were incapable of guiding learners during Circassian learning. • The second most important problem in teaching Circassian in Turkey, it was concluded that a language teaching program developed by paying attention to the differences between the target language Circassian and first language Turkish, and an effective language teaching method developed in line with this program, aimed at people who want to learn Circassian after their first language is Turkish, has not yet been developed. Suggestions for increasing the effectiveness of Circassian teaching: • For the teaching of Circassian in public education centers in Turkey, the A1 level course program of Foreign Languages Adigece(Circassian) prepared by the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning in 2017 is being implemented. Before the implementation of this program, a program called "beginning level" should be applied to people who want to learn Circassian. • In this beginning level program, the voices and verbs of Circassian should be taught by using cognitive teaching method from foreign language teaching methods and by using helical approach. • In the starters level program, textbook, beautiful writing book and lecture videos prepared with a helical systematic must be used in accordance with the gains of the beginning level.
