Construction of a new women identity within an İslamic feminist perspective in Turkish blogs

This study dealing with construction of a new women identıty within an Islamic feminist perspective in Turkish blogs aims to analyze the evolution of women identity in consequence of various cultural, political and social transformations from the years 1839-1876 in Ottoman history up to now. The image of secular, educated and modern women idealized related to the issue of women which is one of the significant indicator of modernization project of Republic revealed a hybrid women identity meeting modern and conservative values under the influence of rising conservatism after 1940's and the powering political Islamism articulated with capitalist values in 1980's. On one hand those women who wereeducated, modern, publicly visible and struggling for rights and freedom, trying to be an individual; on the other hand they tried to keep religious and traditional values. While examining the revealed new women identity in the case of 'Reçel blog' which is one of the conservative women blogs in Turkey, it has been seen that the discourse of Islamic feminism discussed in Muslim countries and Europe since 1990's has been a dominant component of this blog.Those women struggling for their rights and expressing their feminist requests in the content of Islamic paradigm present a hybrid identity by dual questioning against the things which are modern and traditional.
