Investigation of science programs in Turkey in terms of career consciousness

The purpose of this research is to examine the aims and acquirements of the Science Course Curriculums (SCC) in Turkey in terms of career awareness from past to present. This study covers the following nine programs between the years 1926-2018: The Nature Information Curriculums (1926, 1938, 1948 and 1968), 1992 SCC, 2000 SCC, 2005 Science and Technology Course Curriculum, 2013 SCC and 2018 SCC. It is aimed to examine SCC which are applied since the declaration of the Turkish Republic as a document. The documents obtained in this context have been examined considering the periods mentioned above. Some of these documents, which are aimed to be reached in this research, were reached directly and some of them were accessed by using the textbooks of the period they belong to. In terms of career awareness, the 1926 Primary School Program was aimed to introduce the occupational groups commonly seen in the society and the places where these occupational groups were held in the country. 1938, 1948 and 1968 Natural Information Curriculums were the continuation of the 1926 Primary School Curriculum. Until the 1992 SCC, the objectives were not expressed very clearly in curriculums in terms of career awareness. Looking at the content of science textbooks, brief information about the occupations is striking. In the 1992 and 2000 SCC, it was emphasized that the students should be directed to the professions in which s/he has the ability. The 2005 Science and Technology Curriculum contains information about the occupational fields that emerged as a result of need at that time and which are still active today. In 2013 and 2018 SCC, besides the expression of "career awareness", there are also occupational groups that have wide working areas and can stay up to date.
