The structural family of Filipino immigrant in Turkey: Navigating the parenting life-stage between two cultural worlds

The objective of this research is to provide a basic framework for understanding the dynamics of Filipino İmmigrant parenting in Turkey. With the growing population number of Filipino immigrants around the world, and a considerable number have been residing in Turkey. This research is fully intended to highlight the Parenting experiences and challenges of Filipino immigrant parenting in the process of adopting the new culture was then found necessary. This study aims to understand and determine the parenting values, method, and cultural context, including the related cross-cultural parenting experience of Filipino immigrant in Turkey, and to give voice to their current parenting preferences and practices, including how they navigated between the values of two cultures that often opposed one another. Using the qualitative approach 20, Filipino immigrants, all mothers with different ages of children from other respective cities in Turkey, were virtually interviewed and investigating their experiences and challenges related to parenting and the strategies used to overcome the cross-cultural adaptation. Thematic analysis indicated that Filipino values and parenting culture shaped Filipino immigrant mothers' journey in cross-cultural parenting adaptation, challenges and the development of strategies to overcome the existing challenges. Lastly this, research, give voice to a unique experience with two different parenting culture, in an effort to construct meaning. In addition, findings added the lack of current research. And helped inform future research about the immigrant people that face an ongoing challenge finding a balance between the two cultures in which they lived.
