The analysis of children songs used for music education in primary schools in Turkey on the basis of composition techniques of education music

In this research, 210 children songs which have taken place in music lesson books of primary schools of 2008-2009 education and instruction year in Turkey have been analyzed according to composition techniques of education music, and structural features of those songs have been found out. In this context, varieties, topics, voice area, rhythmic structures, scales, tonal-maqam structures, forms, monophony-polyphony structures and prosody of children songs are handled and classified according to those features. The appropriateness of determined features, which related to child development, to the development features have been tried to find out. Thus, employability of children songs in education and appropriateness of them to the purposes have been assessed.
