Abstract (EN)

Forest areas have been a special plant reserves especially having plant diversity. Woody plants species which construct main forest structure and mainly trees are the most marked plant materials. First of all, woody plants that are usually trees and shrubs have carried on qualities of wood raw material in forestry studies. However, plants especially woody plants carry the characteristics being the main component of the landscape with their features that are flowers, fruits, leaves, branches and roots have both nutrition and aesthetic values as well as being wood raw material in the forests. Plants are one of the main component of the landscape as living materials. When realizing planting designs, woody plants built the main structure of the plant compositions and reveal the compositions by signalizing. The main purpose of the study is to identify the using potential of the some woody trees and shrubs species which were determined as non-wood forest product in landscape architecture aspects of aesthetic and functional. In accordance with this purpose, design features of about 82 different species of woody plants and their alternative using areas of these features can be evaluated were defined. Of the 82 plants used in the questionnaire survey, 32 were grasses, 2 were semi-woody, 22 were bushes, 11 were trees, 12 were trees, and 3 were embryos. In this direction, a structural layer has been formed in the direction of its functions by using all these kinds of plant designs. Consequently, the potential of non-wood forest product mainly include trees and shrubs in terms of design features such as color, texture, size, form and functional facilities such as can be used roadside, bordering, screening and dimensional elements were determined.
