Investigation of the life satisfaction of social latin dancers in Turkey

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine the Life Satisfaction of Social Latin Dancers in Turkey in terms of some demographic variables. The universe of the research group consists of around 2000 participants who went to different dance schools in Turkey in the years 2021-2022 and danced for the purpose of socialization. The sample consists of 540 volunteer social latin dancers determined by random sampling method from dance schools in 30 different provinces specified in the universe in 2021-2022. In the study, the 8-item "Demographic Information Form" describing the personal characteristics of the participants, which was prepared by the researcher by taking the expert opinion for the purpose of the research, and the "Adult Life Satisfaction Scale" developed by Kaba, Erol, and Güç (2018) were applied to the participants. Windows SPSS 26.0 licensed statistical program was used to perform statistical tests. In the tests, it was observed that the data were normally distributed since they were in the range of -1.0 +1.0 by looking at the Skewness and Kurtosis values, whether the data met the prerequisites of the parametric tests. Since the data showed a normal distribution, Independent Sample T-Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance and Pearson Correlation analysis tests were applied to the data as statistical analysis. The results of the study showed that the social latin dancers' overall life satisfaction averages of married dancers according to the marital status variable were significantly higher than the averages of single participants, and there were significant differences in the relationship satisfaction and self-satisfaction sub-dimensions of female dancers compared to male dancers according to the gender variable. In addition, it was determined that the self-satisfaction and job satisfaction sub-dimension averages of social latin dancers engaged in licensed sports were significantly higher than those of dancers who did not engage in licensed sports. According to the monthly income category, which is another demographic characteristic of ours, it has been determined that there are significant differences between the sub-dimensions of general life satisfaction, social deciency and job satisfaction at different monthly income levels. It was determined that significant differences emerged among social latin dancers according to the social latin dance making year variable. According to the profession variable, it has been determined that the general life satisfaction and social environment satisfaction sub-dimension averages of dancers working in the private sector are significantly higher than the average of students. Despite all these significant differences, no significant differences were found in the educational status variable of social latin dancers. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis; participating in social Latin dance, Social Dance Latin dancers Latin variable according to the years of making social year as it increases overall life satisfaction, self-satisfaction, social satisfaction, and significant increases were observed in the level of job satisfaction in the positive direction. Finally, as the age of the participants increased, significant increases were observed in their general life satisfaction and social environment satisfaction.
