Abstract (EN)

In this work it has been made an content analysis of Turkish and some foreign universities' vision and mission statements. At first stage it's been made use of library, written and electronic sources about subject and in this context; book, article and internet sourced documents have been examined. The terms "strategic plan" , "vision" and "mission" have been created by examining the literature. In the context of "university" and "high-education" terms, Turkish and foreign universities' progress have been examined in the second chapter. In chapter three, there are analysis results of all Turkish universities' and the universities of chosen countries' vision and mission statements analyzed by the computer program "Maxqda 11". Information obtained from conclusion of the work appear in the fourth chapter. According to these it's been seen that the term "A University Without Hindrance" doesn't appear in any of the universities' mission statements those which have been subject to research in this work. Again, another point draws the attention is that only the public universities in Turkey refer the term "Ethics-Value" more often unlike the other university groups in comparing. Besides, it has been seen that Turkish public universities, top twenty universities in the world and G-20 countries' best universities haven't got the term "Synergy" in their vision statements at all. Another conclusion has been obtained is that our country's universities' vision and mission statements are wider and more comprehensive than other countries' universities' vision and mission statements.
