Distribution of bryopsidophyceae (Chlorophyta=Green algae) species in Turkey seas

Abstract (EN)

This Project is composed of three chapters which aim to examine the Bryopsidophyceae species that belonged to Phylum Chlorophyta spreading over the seas of Turkey. The first chapter is comprised of the description of species in terms of taxonomy and morphology, the second chapter describes in terms of molecular analysis and the third chapter covers the research progress of some species in culture medium in the laboratory. Sampling was made by using snorkelling or SCUBA diving between the dates of December 2011 and October 2014. In this project, 30 taxa at specific and infraspecific level (Bryopsis corymbosa, Bryopsis cupressina, Bryopsis duplex, Bryopsis hypnoides, Bryopsis plumosa, Bryopsis pennata, Caulerpa cylindracea, Caulerpa prolifera, Caulerpa racemosa,, Caulerpa racemosa var. lamourouxxi f. requienii, Caulerpa taxifolia var. distichophylla, Caulerpa scalpelliformis, Codium adhaerens, Codium bursa, Codium corymbosum, Codium decorticatum, Codium decorticatum f. monstrosum, Codium effusum, Codium fragile subsp. fragile, Codium parvulum, Codium taylorii, Codium tomentosum, Codium vermilara, Derbesia tenuissima, Flabellia petiolata, Halimeda tuna, Pedobesia simplex, Penicillus capitatus, Pseudobropsis myura, Pseudochlorodesmis furcellata) belonging to 10 genera, are identified from 11 stations of Turkish coasts. From these species, P. myura for Turkey, Codium corymbosum, C. decorticatum f. monstrosum, C. parvulum, C. taylorii for Turkey and Aegean Sea, are reported for the first time. There are 7 invasive species (C. cylindracea, C. racemosa, C. taxifolia var. distichophylla, C. scalpelliformis, C. fragile subsp. fragile, Codium parvulum and C. taylorii) found. Also the DNA, PCR, Phylogenetic tree analysis of Codium species is carried out. Beside this, F. petiolata and P. myura species are analysed in MV30 culture in laboratory. In early stage F. petiolata's fibrously filament view and thallus evolution, P. myura gametangium formation was observed.
