Abstract (EN)

The exhibition methods of museums influenced by digital technologies from the 20th century to the present are examined in this paper. During the pandemic period, many museums accelerated and improved their virtual museum work. Many museums have established virtual exhibition areas or added up-to-date applications to their existing virtual museums. In light of these changes and new generation practices, the multidimensional approach and examination of museology has formed the basis of this thesis. While museology in the world and in Turkey was researched on these criteria, it was always turned to the axis of archeology museums, and then comparisons were made. As a result of these researches, it has been determined that archeology museums use interactive digital applications such as kiosk, projection, 3D animation, Mapping, hologram, apart from the display method in glass showcases. It is seen that the virtual museum studies carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey have increased in the last two years. The World Archaeological Museums have virtual exhibits that are constantly updated. In addition, the era of guided tours in virtual museums has begun. In general, the increase in the use of social media in the last decade is considered by museums as a means of sharing their activities. It is seen that the use of social media in museums has been at the forefront, especially during the pandemic period. In this thesis, care has been taken to examine the compatibility of the exhibition methods in the World and Turkish Archeology Museums with current technological developments in the use of digital applications in contemporary museology and to reveal the effects. In summary, by examining the methods used by the World and Turkish Archeology Museums in digital exhibitions, suggestions are made for the development of digital exhibition methods in contemporary museology.
