Abstract (EN)
Human trafficking is one of the most serious human rights violations. Victims of this crime can be anyone without gender discrimination; however, women and children are the most affected by this crime. Even though the trafficking crime includes different types of exploitation, the most common type of trafficking is forced women into forced prostitution. As a result of the political events in the world and the migration movements that started afterwards, there has been an increase in the cases of human trafficking. International regulations have been made in the United Nations, the European Union and the Council of Europe to combat the growing crime of trafficking and to protect victims. Turkey is a crossroads in terms of human trafficking. For this reason, the crime of trafficking has been regulated in detail with the amendment to the Turkish Penal Code. In the first part of the study, firstly the concept of human trafficking, its historical process, and then the United Nations, European Union and Council of Europe related to the issue are mentioned. In the second part, besides the legal regulations and practices in the Turkish Law on human trafficking, the practices related to the subject have been tried to be compared with the countries of Sweden, Germany and Netherland. Keywords: Human trafficking, Turkish Penal Code, Palermo Protocol, victim identification process.
