Policies on food supplements in Turkey: A qualitative study

Today, health and nutrition awareness is increasing and with this increase, interest in dietary supplements is growing. This study addresses these products in a broad perspective, starting from their definition, licensing processes, distribution and marketing methods. Dietary supplements are products containing various nutrients or nutrients used to support a nutritional program. In Turkey, the import, production, processing and marketing of these products require specific approval from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. These processes have significant impacts on the health economy. The licensing process for dietary supplements involves strict standards regarding the content, labeling and placing on the market. This process is governed by rigorous regulations and standards for food safety and consumer health. Determining the health economic impacts of these products is of great importance for understanding the relationship between the health sector and the economy and for developing effective policies in this field. The economic value of dietary supplements is closely related to the overall economic impacts in the health sector. Consumers' health-related preferences and the health effects of these products have a direct impact on the market size. Moreover, the effects of these products on health economics are also important for evaluating their impact on health policies. This study examines the increasing popularity of dietary supplements and the contribution of regulations in this field to the health economy within the scope of "Policies on Food Supplements in Turkey; A Qualitative Study". The study aims to shed light on the effects of dietary supplements on health economics, the complex relationship between health and economics, and contribute to decision-making processes in this field.
