Abstract (EN)

This "Traditional and Modern Puppet Theatre's Development In Turkey In The Recent Time" titled thesis is scrutinisingly prepared on the purpose of shed light on problems which are slowing the growth of puppetry in Turkey, in consideration of inspection and survey from past to present with including them too. In the first phase of this study which is discussed in two chapters; the origins of the puppet have been investigated in general, after that the traditional and modern puppetry approaches in the world have been examined and their development has been observed. In the second part; the origins of traditional puppetry of Turkey was examined in depth and the point reached about the modern puppetry has been evaulated with thorougly examining its journey until today. In the conclusion part, the problems that constitute obstacles to the development were determined through interviews with local and foreign puppet artists and personal determinations. And offered solutions to these problems, in the light of the opinions of the artists in the field and the academicians who have made theoretical studies in this field. As a result, this study is a kind of compilation, which has been studied with examining all the academical studies before by correcting and emphasizing some points of them and which will be easily used as a source for various studies and researches in the later times.
