The relationship between growth and energy consumption has been the subject of many researches in economics and econometrics. The origins of the research done in this regard extend back to the 1970s. In recent years, researches have been carried out in our country by following different methods. In the past years, total energy consumption has been taken into account, and now electricity and renewable energy consumption and energy resource-based growth relationship are being considered. In this study, Turkey's primary energy sources oil, gas and coal consumption is discussed in relation with the growth is expected to be an original work in this respect. In our study, econometric analyzes are carried out using 1990-2016 period. Using VAR forecast, cointegration analysis and other econometric methods, it is examined whether oil, natural gas and coal consumption effect growth. In the second part of the study, the concept of energy, growth, and the relationship between energy consumption and growth are examined. The methods used in the study are explained theoretically in the third section and the results are presented in the fourth section. Our findings show that between oil, natural gas, coal consumption and growth for Turkey. There is a cointegrated relationship in the long term. Despite the cointegrated relationship, there is no causality between variables. In the short term, the error correction mechanism works for oil and coal consumption.
