Abstract (EN)

The classical triple classification in nationalism theories fails to explain the function of nationalism in today's social reality. The fact that today's modern states were founded on the basis of nationality in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries shows that the relationship between the modernization process and nationalism should be reconsidered. In this study, nationalism is considered as a symbolic violence applied by the state to society, as well as a symbolic capital that it has collected in order to dominate the state in its society. It is thought that the dimension that provides transformation from symbolic violence to capital is the statist habitus created by the society within the framework of the relations developed with the state for centuries. between the years of 1960-1980 in Turkey within the scope of the study, in place of the left and right nationalist group of intellectuals and power conversion strategies are discussed. In this context, YON-Devrim Movement on the left between 1962-1971 and Intelectuals Hearth on the right between 1970-1980 were examined. As a result of the literature review and descriptive narrative analysis of these movements, it was found that there is a link between nationalism and strategies of seizing the state domain. However, although the actors can dominate the state sphere, due to the conditions of the open society, the opening of the scissors between the society and the state shows that the intellectuals who succeed to dominate the state will not be able to dominate the society. In the social sphere, state elites continue to produce responses to their official ideologies, and it is concluded that the process reproduces itself in the context of political struggles.
