Investigation of the effect of turkish pharmaceutical industry r&d investments on pharmaceutical exports

Human health has been a subject that most closely concerns the quality of life since the existence of humanity. We can say that from past to present, it has been desired to heal diseases that disrupt people's health order with different approaches, such as herbal, chemical or psychological, and researches have been made in this direction and a lot of progress has been made. As a result of the negative effects of the diseases on human health, the quality of life was mildly, moderately or severely affected, and worse, diseases that resulted in death have also been experienced and are still being experienced. In order to make a positive contribution to human health and to increase the quality of life of human beings, drugs have begun to be produced, and with the progress of industrialization, drug production has also industrialized and took its place in the world. Research activities are carried out in order to find the most effective results for the treatment of diseases experienced from the past to the present, and even new or improved drugs are produced in order to minimize the effect on human health in newly emerging diseases. The existence of R&D (Research and Development) departments of pharmaceutical companies that closely follow this process and the continuity of R&D investments are of great importance for the pharmaceutical industry and human health. Today, we can say that there are pharmaceutical companies that have very good facilities in raw material production, active ingredient production or drug production in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as countries that are behind in the pharmaceutical industry or import drugs in terms of economic advantage.We can say that the Turkish pharmaceutical industry has a structure that produces world-class pharmaceuticals, follows closely the technology and innovation, adapts it to the pharmaceutical industry and continues its R&D activities. "Turkey ranks 29th in the world in pharmaceutical exports" (Industry and Trade Ministry Pharmaceutical Industry Report 2020) viii Pharmaceutical exports are also an important sector that contributes to the country's economy, and therefore R&D studies are of great importance. R&D activities and pharmaceutical productions that develop along with it can be an important issue that can cause an increase in drug exports. In this article, information and hypotheses will be presented on the analysis of the effect of R&D investments on pharmaceutical exports.
