Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to state the views of foreign visitors related to the performance of the activities that are used by private- public institutions and establishments in the promotion of the tendency towards promoting the House of Saint Paul. For this purpose, in the House of Saint Paul that is in Tarsus and that is visited as a pilgrimage center by the Christian people since 2008, the polls were carried out on 396 tourists, and it is determined that there are 385 pieces of the poll that were filled up in a way that could be used as data in this study. This poll that was performed towards the aim in question consists of three parts. In the first part of the poll; there are questions about the demographical characteristics of the participants, in its second part; there are questions about the touristic activities of the visitor and the aims of their trips. In the third part, there are three questions that include nine statements aimed at determining the effectiveness of the promotional activities. In this study, relation between the religious sects of the Christian tourists and their aim for visiting Tarsus, the relation between the religious belief of the tourists and their duration of staying in Tarsus and the fact that whether the level for comprehending the competence of promotional activities of House of Saint Paul show difference according to the ages, genders and religious beliefs of the tourist was tested through various statistical analyses (chi- square Independence Test, Independent two samples t Test, single direction variance analysis). In the statistical results that were gathered, it is realized that individuals who are from Catholic sect visit this House more than the individuals from other sects. However it is determined that Christians pay one- day visit to this House and rather than being considered directly in the position of being belief tourism center, this House is in the position of being a center that is visited on tours. Furthermore, it is concluded that the thoughts of the tourist about the competence of the promotional activities for the House of Saint Paul do not differ according to the ages, genders and religious beliefs of the tourist, and tourists have found the Public relation activities that are used in the introduction of this tendency much more successful.
