Work-life balance in Turkey: A research on academicians

Abstract (EN)
In general terms, the importance of the concept of work-life balance, which can be defined as the situation where a person's demands for his/her job and personal life demands are in balance, increasingly continue. A matter of work-life balance has also attracted the attention of researchers and a number of studies on this issue has been conducted over time. The importance of providing the work-life balance both for the individual and for the society and for the organizations has been the driving force for the organizations and governments to create policies aimed at promoting this balance. In this study, in order to determine the work-life balance levels of academicians, a research has been conducted on those who are thought to have difficulty in providing this balance. A survey was conducted to determine the relationship between work-life balances and different demographic factors/variables of academicians working only within the faculty of a total of four different universities—Istanbul University, Karadeniz Technical University, Istanbul Medipol University, Avrasya University. The collected data was analyzed in IBM SPSS Statistics 25 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package program. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the work-life balance levels differ greatly according to the demographic factors/variables of academicians.
