Female soccer players in Turkey: Comperative relational analysis of female and male soccer players

Abstract (EN)

Soccer, whose primal forms date back to thousands years ago, is a global field which today is in relation to almost whole other fields of social life and where millions of people participate in.Despite the fact that millions of people participate, soccer is still an area that is controled by masculine relations and masculine perception. For this reason, the aim of this study is about the positions, activities and relationship networks of women players in the field of soccer. For this purpose, relavent literature has been examined and field research was done in the direction of quantitative and qualitative techniques. Survey was conducted with women soccer players in Turkey Women 1st League. In addition, face-to-face meetings were held with female soccer palyers in 1207 Antalya Döşemealtı Belediye Sports Club and people in the manager/coach positions in women soccer field. In the data collection process, data about the women soccer players in the field, their activities and relations have been obtained. In the conclusion, the data obtained are interpreted on the basis of Pierre Bourdieu's theory of action and his field, capital, habitus and masculine dominance concepts on the axis of relational approach.
