Women's employment and gender oppression in Turkey: The case of Kırklareli̇

Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is tried to determine whether women were exposed to gender pressures both in the workplace and in the family by interviewing with women living and working in Kırklareli province. In this context, the questions in the semi-structured interview form consisting of 12 questions; 6 questions for working women and 6 questions for non-working women are asked 21 employees women and 17 non-working women who are randomly selected and live in Kırklareli. The content analysis method is applied to the interview analysis key and the data obtained are interpreted. It can be said that working women in the scope of the study are exposed to mobbing by both male and female workers in working life. It can also be said that the gender is male that first appeares in the participants' minds when they are called managers or employers was man. In general, it can ve stated that the participation of both working and non-working women in employment is supported by their families. Many women who cannot work, cannot work because they take care of their children. Furthermore, it can be stated some women have difficulties in finding job since they think the employment areas are unsufficient in Kırklareli while some women do not work since they cannot find suitable jobs for themselves.
