Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to explain the relationship between the union commitment of the members and their preferences by revealing the debates on the emergence and development of public servant unionism in Turkey. In order to achieve this aim, the union commitment of union members working in the Post and Telegraph Corporation, a public institution, demographic factors, whether the commitment differs according to the unions to which they are members, the level of instrumental union commitment in relation to members, as well as the effect of political tendency on union commitment were examined. The survey method was preferred as the data collection method, and the Union Commitment Scale and the Political Tendency Scale were used in the survey form, apart from the demographic data. While analyzing the data, descriptive statistical methods such as frequency, mean, percentage, as well as t-test, one-way Anova Test (Tukey, Games-Howell) and structural equation model were used. As a result, it has been observed that the union commitment of union member public officials differs according to the union they are a member of in terms of some variables. It has been determined that union managers affect the preferences of the members, and that there is a negative and strong relationship between political tendency and union commitment.
