Practices and results of TMSA audits in Turkish chemical tanker operators

Abstract (EN)

Main purpose of the research is that to analyse existing state of Turkish Chemical Tanker Operators (TCTO) through practices and results of TMSA (Tanker Management Self Assessment) audits; and to find out when, why and how the subject became a focus of attention in Turkey, in addition to prepare a remarkable guides by presenting the observed applications and results to other tanker operators. There are limited numbers of expert over the area in Turkey. The research strategy discovered by the evaluation, of the interviews carried out with the responsible experts who were choosen randomly throughout TCTO, which was carried out by with an expert who were certified by Germanisher Lloyd and approved to grant education of TMSA. Thereafter, the preliminary study (focused group meetings and pilot questionnaire) putted into implementation for testing th final questionnaire. At the end, the questionnaire applied to the experts within TCTO (many of them takes place in benchmarking meetings) in Turkey. The reliability of the questionnaire was obtained in sufficient and significance levels of items are tested by IBMPASW Statistics – SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), Data Mining, Statistical Analysis Software (version 18) and analised to be able to reach up the general swithces. Significant results are obtained through the questionnaire analysis, discussions and some recommendations are performed in the conclusion part of study by gathered detail info/knowledge from TCTO experts.
