Abstract (EN)

The globalization of world economy has brought tremendous increases in Exchange of goods across the world. In pursuit of economical and competitive manufacturing, production centers of most industries have rapidly shifted their bases beyond national borders. Consumers also have started to reach agricultural and manufactured goods for their daily life from all over the world within reasonable ranges of price and quality. As the globalization is most likely to further develop, the world trade and in particular seaborne trade will continue to grow in the following years. In the majority of countries, most of the international trade and in some cases also large amount of domestic trade is done trough maritime transport. The relevance of sea ports in the efficient working of an economy can not be understated besides, all goods and passengers transported by sea require the use of at least two ports. Moreover, seaborne traffic depends on seaports for its operations, since ports act as interfaces between maritime and inland modes of transport system seaports must be guaranteed to work efficiently. Besides, having a geopolitical situation as being a transport corridor between Europe and Asia, Turkey? seaport have not well established and commercionalized to cope with the developing seaborne trade. To meet international trade needs our ports have to evaluate and develop themselves. And the best way is institutional restructuring and privatization
