11 EVALUATION OF PIANO EDUCATION IN THE INSTITUTIONS TRAINING THE MUSIC TEACHERS IN TURKEY ON THE BASIS OF THE VIEWS OF MUSIC TEACHERS TOWARDS THE EFFICIENCY OF USING THE PIANO/KEYBOARD IN THE MUSIC LESSONS Hatice ONURAY E?İLMEZ SUMMARY The aim of this research is to make a genaral evolution of piano education in the institutuons training music teachers on the basis of the views of the music teachers towards the efficiency of using the piano/keybard. Music teachers working at the primary and secondary schools in the city centers and towns of Bolu, Muğla. Bursa and Adıyaman provinces in 2002-2003 education year constituted the research group and sample group choosen from this main research group through random sampling. Scanning model towards the determination of the case formed the basis of the research and the data collected by the questiannaire was evaluated and descriptive statistical methots were used on its solution and comment. Efficiency of using the piano/keyboard learning-teaching process by the music teachers according to the contents of the educational program of music lessons was determined in the research and the results were evaluated according to the determined criteria and as a result proposals were brought about increasing the efficiency of using the piano/keyboard, devolopment of piano teaching programs in music teachers training institutions and more effective use of the piano/keyboard.
