An assessment on current situation of Turkey in the last three years with regard to medical tourism and development of economic dimension in the medical tourism sector

In parallel with the developments worldwide, health tourism is witnessing a rapid progress in Turkey, constituting a significant market on the global level. Medical tourism, which is defined as medical practices provided generally at the secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities for the tourists with a certain disease based on the specific plans of the physicians, can be indicated as the component of the health tourism with the highest added value. This study aims to put forth potential of Turkey by elaborating the current state in terms of medical tourism, emphasize importance of medical tourism for Turkey and make evaluations to develop role of Turkey in this sector. Through literature review method, place of medical tourism in Turkey was elaborated and analysed. Medical data of Turkey were evaluated with the various topics. Following a comprehensive literature review, medical tourism was addressed in detail and its importance was set forth. It was understood that Turkey has considerably high potential in the field of medical tourism and various recommendations were made regarding the areas which need to be developed in different aspects
