Abstract (EN)
As Turkey ratified the Kyoto Protocol, as of February 17, 2009, in order to fulfill the requirements of the protocol, Turkey has to take into consideration the concerns related with the climate change and emissions while planning the use of energy resources. In this study, the situation of greenhouse gas producing potential of Turkey, EU countries and Switzerland depending on the use of energy resources were examined by comparing the respective data by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). DEA is a non-parametric method, of which relative efficiency is being measured by using chosen input and output values of decision-making units (DMU) and no analytical relationship between the variables. DEA method provides to specify which decision making unit (in this study they are ?countries?) is efficient and missing points of the inputs of unsuccessful DMUs while converting their inputs to outputs. Totally 29 countries? -including Turkey, EU countries and Switzerland- relative performance evaluation were conducted as regards the sectoral greenhouse gas emissions stemming from the use of energy resources. As input, use of sectoral energy resources and as output, produced sectoral greenhouse gas emissions were used to evaluate efficiency by using six different models.Keywords : Data envelopment analysis, greenhouse gas, efficiency
