Abstract (EN)
Turkey is situated in a highly favorable geographical region in terms of climate conditions and soil characteristics, which provides significant advantages for agricultural activities, particularly grape cultivation. This study examines the general state of agriculture in Turkey and its role within the national economy, discussing its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and export sector. Emphasis is placed on organic farming practices and government incentives supporting organic agriculture, alongside current data on viticulture and vine leaf production. The province of Manisa, with its suitable climate, strategic location, and advanced agricultural infrastructure, plays a leading role in Turkey's grape and vine leaf production. Agricultural activities in Manisa are analyzed in detail, considering factors such as land use distribution, soil classifications, irrigation systems, and agricultural mechanization. The study highlights the region's potential in vine leaf production as well as key challenges including unplanned cultivation, pest and disease control, quality assurance deficiencies, and labor-related issues. Through interviews conducted with local businesses engaged in vine leaf export, the production and export potentials of producers and the challenges they face have been identified. The findings suggest that Manisa's substantial production capacity can be further enhanced through more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, strengthening quality control mechanisms, product diversification, and marketing strategies is essential for improving the province's competitiveness in the global market.
