Turkey olympic preparation center, athlete training center and individual licensed active athletes investigation of social skill levels

The purpose of the study, Gaziantep, who sports as the elite in the province of Turkey Olympic Preparation Center (TOHM) and Athlete Training Center (SEM) how social use of active sportsmen have licenses with athletes, indicate whether the differentiation according to different variables. The universe of the research; Athletics, which performs elite sports activities in Gaziantep, consists of 3478 athletes registered in taekwondo wrestling and weightlifting. Its sample consists of TOHM and SEM athletes operating at an elite level in Gaziantep province and active athletes engaged in individual sports. The study was carried out with 244 active athletes in the 2018-2019 academic year. In this research, questions covering demographic information and Social Skills Inventory (SBE) were used as data collection tools. SPSS statistics program was used while analyzing the data. Significance level was determined as p <0.05. When the social skill inventory sub-dimensions of the athletes were examined in our research findings, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the girls according to the gender variable (71 girls - 173 men) across the scale. According to the question "Are you a TOHM or SEM Athlete?", It was determined that 114 people answered "yes" and 130 people answered "no". It was determined that there was a significant difference in social skills in favor of the athletes who answered "No". It was observed that there was no significant difference in social skill level sub-dimensions according to age, sporting year and monthly material income variable. As a result, the social skills of female athletes are more advanced than male athletes; According to the branch variable, it was observed that the social skills of the athletes in the wrestling and athletics branches were higher than the other branches. Social skills of individual licensed active athletes were higher than TOHM and SEM athletes. The absence of studies related to social skill level in the literature and the comparison of TOHM and SEM athletes with individual licensed active athletes indicates a significant aspect of our study.
