Evaluation of athletes on communication and leadership skills of coaches working in turkey olympic preparation centers

In this study, coaches who are coached at The Ministry of Youth And Sport of Turkey Olympic Preparation Center, examined according to the athletes evaluation interms of leadership and communication skill levels. The variables of the athletes such as gender, age, education level, education period and education status were compared and it was aimed to determine the relationship between them. In the study, The Perceived Leadership Scale in Sport and Coach Communication Scale was applied to 425 athletes aged 15 and over, training at the Turkey Olympic Preparation Centers in 16 sports branches, according to the purpose of the study, which scans the pattern detected in. The results were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 package program. In the analysis of the data, frequency, percentage distributions, t-test, Anova test and Correlation (Pearson) test were used as statistical methods. As a result; it is observed that the levels of autocratic behavior were below average, while the levels of communication skills perceived by the athletes in their coaches were above average. As the perceived communication skill levels of athletes' coaches increase, there is an increase in the levels of educative-supportive, democratic and explanatory-rewarding behavior while the results of autocratic behavior patterns decrease.
