Abstract (EN)

There are 58 species (61 taxa) of the genus Potantilla L. in Turkey. According to the literature, 16 of these taxa are European-Siberian, 13 are Iranian-Turanian and 10 are Mediterranean phytogeographic elements. The phytogeographic region of 21 of them is unknown. The aim of the study is to determine how the morphological and functional characters of the genus fit into the known phytogeographic shadows of the taxa and to determine which phytogeographic region the taxa with unknown phytogeographic regions may belong to. Categorical characters related to vegetative and reproductive structures determined based on the literature were analyzed using ANOSIM (Similarity Analysis), NMDS (Non-Mertic Multidimensional Scaling) and PCA (Principal Component Analysis) analysis methods. According to the findings, it was determined that the characters of the taxa were more related to habitat types than phytogeographic regions. Considering the research findings, it was decided that the phytogeographical region elements of Potentilla taxa were determined subjectively in the literature. It was concluded that more detailed physiological, anatomical and micromorphological characters, especially the features affected by climatic conditions, were needed to determine the phytogeographical regions of Potentilla taxa.
