Abstract (EN)

Since the emergence of mankind, boks have been in a key position. From past to present, it's known that boks written on diverse subjects and read individually or in a group in diverse settings exist. In order to bring these boks to gether with readers in a regular setting, libraries have been instituted in different Islamic Regions. Besides boks which have been dedicated to public use, boks written for particular individuals and taking places in their private libraries exist. For the reason that it is our main theme, books, libraries, author, tradition of book dedication and reading activities in Turkish Seljuck and Beyliks era have been addressed in this study. In this context ın the first section of the study; two sub-topics have been included under the main topic of "Books and Libraries In The Islamic World". In the first sub-topic, the word "library" has been diversely defined following a detailed scanning in literature. In addition, information about functions, incumbents and types of libraries have taken place in the framework of this section. In the other sub-topic, libraries which have been instituted and boks which have existed from the Islamic Era to Turkish Seljuck and Beyliks have been scrutinized. In the second section, brief biographies of pioneer authors in scholarship community with the boks they inscribed about Turkish Seljuck and Beyliks Era, details on the works in diverse genres they created in or after the mentioned era and their contents have been addressed. In the third section, tradition of book dedication referring to the respect shown to boks and their authors especially by high state officials in Turkish Seljuck and Beyliks Era has been included in the axis of reading culture. Tradition of book dedication process in the Period of Principalities has been included in the framework of the integrity of the topic. Conclusion, Study has been concluded with a table including boks which have been inscribed, their authors and individuals whom they have been dedicated to, attachements including some visuals of the boks mentioned in the framework of this study and finally with the references.
