Development of social aid in Turkey and social aid activities of community centers

The Community Centers, which were established on February 19, 1932 in order to transfer the modernization breakthroughs to the society and for the society to adopt the principles of the Turkish revolution, carried out important activities not only in the cultural field, but also in the field of social aid. It carried out these activities through Community Centers, Social Assistance Branches. Social Assistance Branches aimed to raise the living standards of citizens in need by identifying them in the regions where they were established. In line with this purpose, they have carried out important works in the fields of employment, treatment, food aid, stationery aid, accommodation and protection. In this study, the activities of Community Centers in the field of social assistance will be discussed. In the study, first-hand sources such as the Presidency State Archives, the national and local newspapers of the period, the publications of the Republican People's Party Public Houses, the Ülkü Community Centers magazine, and research works were used.
