Improving the occupational safety and training standards of the divers occupied in the turkish aquaculture industry

"Notification on the Determination of the Bays and Gulfs of the Sensitive Areas for Fish Farms" was published in the official gazette by Ministry of Environment and Forestry and came into force on 24 January 2007, "Guidelines for Establishing a Sustainable Environmentally Friendly Fish Farms System" was published by Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in July 2015. In accordance with these notification and guidelines, the areas where the fish farms can be established move away from the coastline and become areas where the sea is deeper. This situation will lead to the necessity of employing more qualified divers in the sector. In reference to that, in this study, national legal regulations about diving are reviewed and compared with the other national legal regulations and standards of international organizations. As a result of the study, proposals are made to improve the occupational safety and training standards of the divers occupied in the aquaculture industry.
